Over the past two decades, our Executive team at Unison has owned, operated, invested in, and optimized dozens of addiction treatment and mental health facilities across the country. This includes the Principal team owning and operating 12 Behavioral Healthcare facilities with over 900 In-patient treatment beds, and 4 out-patient treatment locations.

Our Team

Jon SerafinoMBA
Mr. Serafino has made a career out of helping companies accelerate growth and improve profit via Analytics Solutions with a focus on Business Development and Marketing. He has been responsible for assets in excess of $100M and has managed teams of 50 plus employees.
In his capacity as Founding Partner at US Health & Wellness he purchased a controlling interest and operated a 46-bed Substance Abuse Treatment facility. This facility provided Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient and General Outpatient programs. Through Jon’s leadership, US Health successfully improved the EBITDA and census of this facility and ultimately sold their controlling interest to a nationwide SUD Treatment provider in 2021.
As a Partner with Waypoint Consulting, his experience spans multiple industries, although much of his analytics work has been in the healthcare vertical, with both privately held firms and public, such as The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. As a Partner with the firm, Mr. Serafino was integral in the company’s consistent growth, over 12 years, and the ultimate successful sale of the company to a nationwide Accounting and Consulting firm in 2022.
Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a dual major MBA from Saint Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business. Charity/Activities: Jon sits on the Board of Advisors for St. Joseph’s University and is active in the Philabundance Organization.
Sean D. McDougallB.S.
Mr. McDougall has over 25 years of experience Substance Abuse Treatment and Behavioral Healthcare industry. Mr. McDougall was Founder/Chairman/CEO and principal owner of MinSec Companies, LLC which became one of the largest providers of cost-effective, community-based Residential Treatment and Housing for governmental agencies in the mid-Atlantic region, operating corrections facilities, Behavioral Health treatment centers and outpatient programs for the treatment of chemical dependency and mental health disorders. MinSec Companies developed, owned, managed and acquire in-excess of (900) In-patient Treatment beds, (4) Out-patient treatment locations that serviced over 300 clients During the course of Sean’s career, he was the CEO and principal owner of several healthcare companies – MinSec Companies: MinSec Behavioral Health, Diversified Health, Visionary Companies, Crestview Recovery, Inc., Crest View Health Ventures, and Logan Plaza Partners, LLC – all of which Sean founded between the years 1995-2019. Sean was instrumental in his organization becoming one of the largest providers of substance abuse treatment for governmental agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region. Under Sean’s leadership, MinSec operated community facilities, behavioral health treatment centers, intensive out-patient treatment, in-patient treatment, and out-patient programs for the treatment of chemical dependency and mental health disorders. Sean has been instrumental in developing and acquiring over 22 companies and investment limited liability partnerships. In 2011 Sean, in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania, developed the program and outcome measurement guidelines for the Veterans Treatment Facility located in the city Philadelphia, a 60-bed “Safe-Haven” pilot-program for chronically homeless veterans. This program was fully funded by Department of Veterans Affairs. This program was a model for housing and treating homeless vets.
Under Sean’s executive leadership, MinSec Companies was of the top performing privately held treatment company in Pennsylvania. In the twelve years since its founding, the company averaged a compounded annual growth rate in net operating income in excess of 26 percent. In addition, the companies achieved an average census occupancy of 95.7 percent and produced positive EBITDA growth each year for 10 years. In addition to the operating company, the real estate division rental and lease revenues and net operating income grew each year, even during the Great Recession. The company developed strategic and contractual relationships with the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs, Department of Corrections, (53) county agencies in PA, DE, MD, CO, and NJ, the Veterans Administration, Cornell University, UPenn-Wharton School, Temple Health, and Drexel University.
In 2013, Sean successfully negotiated the sale of the operating business to a publicly held company. Later in 2015 he structured the sale of a community treatment facility to a publicly traded REIT. In 2016 Sean formed Actus Health Ventures for the purpose of continuing to invest in and support treatment companies and their founders.
